Frequently Asked Questions
What is Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates is a form of Pilates that uses a specialist piece of equipment called a Reformer. The machine uses springs, resistance and a moving carriage to help improve strength, flexibility, mobility, balance and body awareness.
Reformer Pilates is suitable for a wide range of abilities, including complete beginners. Your instructor will guide you through each exercise and provide modifications where appropriate.
Do I need Pilates experience before attending?
No. Studio Tally welcomes beginners as well as those with previous Pilates experience.
If it is your first time using a Reformer, please arrive 5–10 minutes early so we can welcome you, introduce you to the equipment and explain the basics before class begins.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.
We recommend avoiding very loose clothing that may get caught in the equipment, tighter fitting clothing is best if you feel comfortable so that the instructor can check form easily to ensure you are practicing safe movement.
Grip socks are required for all Reformer Pilates classes for safety and hygiene reasons. You can bring your own suitable grip socks or purchase Studio Tally grip socks from the studio (subject to availability).
Do I need to bring anything?
No specialist equipment is needed. Everything you need for your class will be provided.
Please bring:
-
Grip socks
-
Water if required
-
Any information about injuries, conditions or concerns you would like your instructor to know about
How early should I arrive?
Please arrive 5–10 minutes before your class begins.
This gives you time to get settled, complete any final requirements and allows your instructor to introduce you to the Reformer before starting.
For safety reasons, clients arriving 3 minutes or more after the class start time will not be able to participate. The class will not be refunded or credited in this situation.
